A query typed into a search box is transmitted to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the entry and supplies its results. Wayne County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Wayne County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes reference material about Wayne County courts, the Sheriff's Department, the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the West Virginia Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
